Ship Dynamics And Ocean Engineering
BSHC activities treat variety of ship and offshore dynamics
problems related to safety and effectiveness of marine
operations, such as:
|
|
Designing ships to
the natural environment
Novel express multi-variantship optimization
scheme has been developed at BSHC, following Bales-like approach
for establishing empirical relationship between a set of certain
hull form parameters and some generalized operational estimator
of ship abilities to perform her tasks in real service conditions,
identified by multi-parameter regression in a linear polynomial
form, according the ship type and assignment scenario. The operational
considerations approach described above is useful in preliminary
stages of ship design

|
 |
Theoretical
and experimental evaluations on ship and offshore dynamics
Theoretical prediction and improvement
of ship performance in real operational conditions based on
linearized strip theory and utilizing BSHC-owned data bases
established by extensive serial model tests (such as data base
of bow wave parameters for application in deck wetness estimations,
data base of ship speed loss in waves, data base on hydrodynamic
coefficients, etc.)
Seakeeping model tests in regular as well as irregular waves
of arbitrary headings, for estimation of ship motions, wave
forces and loads, speed loss, rarely occurred events as slamming,
deck wetness, etc.

|
 |
Mooring and drift forces
Evaluation of compound forces in
mooring lines of ships and structures in waves and current
Evaluation of forces in lines and fenders at ship-to-ship mooring
schemes in waves and current
Data base of wave drifting forces on ships, collected by systematic
model tests
Data base of wave drifting forces on series of semisubmersibles

Evaluations on dynamics
of arbitrary floating bodies
Unconventional vehicles
Wave energy conversion devices
Interaction of multi-body floating systems in waves
|

|
Stability
Evaluations on hydrostatics
- Intact and damaged stability of ships and
floating structures in calm water and waves
- Operational stability in following waves
- Design, predictions and stand tests
of motion stabilizing facilities

|
Small boat dynamics
- Program package for yacht resistance prediction
based on Delft systematic yacht hull series, static and dynamics
evaluations, building of speed-made-good diagrams
- Theoretical and experimental seakeeping and
manoeuvring estimations on small semi-displacement boats,
planning crafts, sailing yachts, catamarans, SES, etc
