Deep Water Towing Tank Seakeeping and Manoeuvring Basin CFD-BUL

Programme

The scientific applied investigations as well the technological developments are focused in the following directions:

•  applying methods for hydrodynamics virtual modeling of floating and moored marine objects, as well as for virtual modeling of coastal zone processes, using licensed specialized program products;

•  new methods for investigation/optimization of the hydrodynamic qualities of the modern maritime transport units, including specialized means for ocean resources utilization, multihull vessels, specialized research vessels, etc.;

•  marine renewable energy sources – problems and possibilities for realization;

•  shallow water influence on the hydrodynamic parameters of ships/convoys shipping on inland waterways, including Danube river;

•  hydrodynamic optimization of the powering performance of yachts and sailing boats – realization of joint projects;

•  actualization of the experimental procedures for performance hydrodynamic investigations and analysis of the quality of the experiment in accordance with the requirements of ITTC.

•  participation in national/EU research projects/programmes;

•  reconstruction and modernization of the shallow water towing tank, aerodynamic tunnel, manoeuvring – seakeeping basin and of the technical equipment, adopting of new experimental units, machine park updating;

•  creation and development of scientific investigations and training aerodynamic laboratory as well as of river shipping manoeuvring simulator prototype;

•  unification of the BSHC automated measuring systems/software, as well as of the data acquisition/processing and experiment control methods;

•  development and certification of quality control system;

•  staff development/qualification and drawing young specialists employees in BSHC;

•  wide spectrum applied investigations and services for national/foreign customers.
